Austin REALTORSĀ® Leverages Multiple REALTORĀ® Party Grants in Support of Missing Middle Housing
With strong support from Austin REALTORSĀ®, in 2023, the City of Austin approved the Home Options for Middle-income Empowerment (HOME) Resolution, initiating code amendments to reduce the minimum lot size to 2,500 square feet or less and allow for up to three residential dwelling units per lot. Backed by a variety of REALTORĀ® Party resources, the REALTORSĀ® are maintaining the momentum toward increasing āmissing middleā housing.
Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORSĀ® Supports New Zoning Ordinance Aimed at Correcting Racial Inequity and Increasing Inventory of Affordable Housing
When a racist rally occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia in August 2017, it prompted the City Council to focus on municipal policies through a lens of racial inequity. City leaders revisited the comprehensive land use plan with an eye toward improving affordable housing, an area that had always been intimately linked with race. The Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORSĀ® endorsed the major zoning reform and used grants from the REALTORĀ® Party to support its passage.

NAR Thanks President Biden for Addressing Housing Supply in State of the Union
On Thursday night, President Joe Biden announced a number of housing initiatives in the State of the Union address (SOTU), calling for a $10,000 tax credit for both first-time homebuyers and people who sell their starter homes; the construction and renovation of more than 2 million additional homes, lower closing costs and cost reductions for renters.
Illinois REALTORSĀ® and the Chicago Association of REALTORSĀ® Conduct Campaign to Defeat Transfer Tax Referendum
With help from an Issues Mobilization Grant from the REALTORĀ® Party, Illinois REALTORSĀ® and the Chicago Association of REALTORSĀ® fought a misguided referendum seeking to use an increase in real estate transfer taxes to fight homelessness. Understanding that the proposal would be detrimental to the local economy, the REALTORSĀ® launched an energetic effort to persuade voters to oppose it at the ballot box.
Utah Association of REALTORSĀ® Conducts Compelling Social Media Campaign in Support of Major Legislation Boosting New Housing
For five years, the Utah Association of REALTORSĀ® has been working with the governorās office and the state legislature to engineer solutions to the stateās dire shortage of affordable housing. The recent session saw the creation of some game-changing approaches to funding, among other advances and reforms, which the state REALTORSĀ® supported with their first big social media buy. An Issues Mobilization Grant helped make it possible.
