Property values in Wyoming have skyrocketed in the past several years, taking residential property taxes right along with them. With help from an Issues Mobilization grant from the REALTOR® Party, Wyoming REALTORS® launched a campaign in support of adding a fourth tier to the state’s property classifications, separating residential properties from commercial and agriculture, and enabling the legislature to set or cap tax rates accordingly.
Using a Consumer Advocacy Outreach Grant from the REALTOR® Party, FAAR produced video testimonials highlighting the severe lack of affordable housing in the region to help create a civic environment sympathetic to boosting development. The timing of the campaign helped ease the way for a local nonprofit rezoning effort to build one hundred affordable units.
Faced with Short-Term-Rental legislation that would have restructured regulatory control, placing undue burden on property owners and significantly expanding the authority of local governments, Florida REALTORS® rose in opposition. Using the Advocacy Everywhere program, REALTOR® Party Mobile Alerts, and an Issues Mobilization grant, they provided strong support for the governor’s veto.
