Chair’s Letter
Hello GAD Nation!
I’m composing this from Washington, DC as we wrap up the Spring New GAD/AE Orientation. Wow, what a great 1.5 days of training. For me, helping others learn and grow is the best thing about being GAD Chair. Each time I’ve had the opportunity to come out and walk alongside our newest colleagues I’ve learned something new myself. If you are attending RLM in a couple months, you’ll see a great group of GADs joining the ranks – be sure to introduce yourself. You were in their position once – make sure they know just how great this community can be.
Before you know it, we will descend on Charleston, SC for GAD Institute. It amazes me how quickly this year is flying by! Make sure to reach out if you need an extra ear on an issue, advice on next steps, or to simply vent if you need. We are all on the same team.
With that said, I’ll keep this brief and leave you with the following sentiment that I have looked to at times when in need of a little motivation.
“You have to be where you are to get where you need to go.” — Amy Poehler
Essentially, every step is significant in reaching your goal. Don’t rush, and don’t avoid. Be present and stay focused.
Looking forward to seeing many of you back here in DC soon!
What You Need to Know
Senate to Consider Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Bill
At 1:15 p.m. (ET), the Senate will convene for several votes including a key procedural vote on the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025. This vote will determine whether the chamber can move forward with the funding package, which is critical to keeping the government operational.
Included in the bill is an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through September 30. NAR has submitted a letter of support, urging Congress to ensure the program’s continuity.
