From the Chair
GAD Nation,
If advocacy season had a mascot, it would probably be the Easter Bunny.
Somewhere between an egg hunt and a full basket, you never quite know what you’re going to find, but you know it’s going to be packed.
We are entering one of the most active stretches of the year.
Elections are underway, state legislative bodies are in full swing, and local agendas are already longer than they should be.
With so much happening at once, the stakes are not just in the policies being debated, but in who is at the table making those decisions.
That is where member engagement matters, not just showing up, but making sure the right voices are in the room.
Think of this season like an egg hunt. The opportunities are out there. They are just not always where you expect them to be, and they are rarely the brightly colored ones sitting right on top.
Some eggs are easy to find.
Others are hidden under layers of process, timing, and that one amendment that shows up halfway through the meeting like it has been there the whole time, like the egg every kid somehow ran right past.
The key is staying in motion.
In a season like this, things move quickly, and if you blink, something important just became another item.
There are a few key opportunities coming up to sharpen your skills and stay connected. A rare moment where what matters is clearly labeled and not buried in a packet or deep in a bill.
REALTOR® Legislative Meetings (RLM) are approaching. All GADs are welcome to attend these invitation meetings, and they are always worth the time.
Looking ahead, GAD Institute registration opens May 6 at noon CT. Set a reminder now, because we all know “I’ll sign up later” quickly turns into “How is it already full?”
Make sure April 29 is on your calendar for the All GAD Call at 3 PM ET.
We will preview Columbus and hear insights from Drew Myers on the State and Local Policy Survey.
If there is one thing to prioritize this season, it is staying connected. Between All GAD Calls, meetings, and Institute, this is where momentum builds. The wins are there.
You just have to find them before they get buried somewhere between item 17 and “any other business,” or tucked away like the last egg everyone somehow missed.
