Important Update on NAR’s National CFA
Following an unpredictable month on Capitol Hill, Congress is showing progress on advancing legislation needed to fund the federal government. This includes an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Leaders in the House and Senate are also discussing several stopgap options to continue their work past the current budget deadline of November 17.
NAR’s Advocacy team is in direct contact with congressional leaders on the status of government funding and continues to communicate our members’ priorities. Given this positive momentum, we do not plan to launch an all-member Call For Action at this time. We are also officially closing out the round one CFA on the Action Center. We will continue our strategic contact with Congress and keep you posted on any new developments while we are in Anaheim. Thank you for your ongoing support!
NAR Announces New Interim CEO
Nykia Wright, former CEO of the Chicago Sun-Times, will replace NAR CEO Bob Goldberg starting Nov. 20. Meanwhile, the association continues to conduct a comprehensive search process to identify a permanent CEO.

Brandon Alderete
GAD Chair
Texas REALTORS®
Next week we’ll be in Anaheim for NXT, our annual conference, with a busy schedule filled with valuable information for all of us as we head into 2024.
One special event to add to your calendars is a GAD-exclusive reception at Brewheim (1931 E. Wright Circle) on Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. right before NAR’s welcome event at Angel Stadium. Don’t miss this opportunity to reconnect with colleagues you met at GAD Institute!
The next day, the GAD meeting will start at 10:30 a.m. and we’ll hear from GADs about the important work each of their NAR committees are doing and a special presentation from Morning Consult on a national rent control survey that has just returned from the field. At noon, we’ll break into the state and local GAD breakout sessions.
Speaking of these sessions, in your comments from the GAD Institute survey, some of you expressed frustration with the topics and format at the local and state breakout sessions. We heard you. If you have a topic you want to discuss, fill out this confidential form, and it will be added to the breakout agenda.
We have plenty to discuss and, with the help of our awesome NAR staff, have put together a great program.
In addition to the GAD meetings, I strongly recommend you attend the Lawsuit Update: Impact and Next Steps on Monday, Nov. 13 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Anaheim Convention Center, Room 257, 200 Level – (North Building). This important session will be in-person only.
As the legal process continues, the best thing our members can do is to continue to demonstrate value to their clients – and that goes for us too, GAD Nation! Take what you learn in Anaheim back home to emphasize the importance of REALTORS® to their clients and GADs to our REALTORS®.
I can’t wait to see everyone in Anaheim NXT week!
