NAR President Tracy Kasper’s theme for 2024 is “Ignite Others,” which was echoed often at last week’s REALTOR® Party Training Conference in St. Louis. I love a good theme – and igniting others is a fundamental part of our job. You have to get members motivated to Vote, Act, and Invest.

A great way to do that is with the many grants and programs offered by NAR. Whether it’s through issues mobilization, independent expenditures, or community outreach, make a plan to complement your association’s efforts with these tools in 2024. There are literally millions of dollars you can bring back to your community (ahem – demonstrate your value) … and NAR staff is ready to help you!

Lacey and I are excited to announce that we’re reintroducing monthly All-GAD calls in 2024, some of which will focus on how to use those tools. Keep an eye out on the Hub, the GAD Facebook page, and in your email for more information.

Also – if you’re a new-ish GAD (less than 18 months on the job), I strongly recommend you attend new GAD Orientation in February. The two-day program demonstrates NAR’s commitment to GAD professional development and features a deep dive into NAR resources, as well as an opportunity to meet and interact with our fantastic staff. Even better, that program is 100% reimbursable! There are limited seats available, and registration opens in January.

One final important note as 2023 comes to a close: Although the 2023 Fundraising Year-End Deadline is December 31, 2023, the year-end transmittal deadline is COB Thursday, December 14, 2023. This is the final deadline for individuals to be recognized as NAR Major Investors or for a state to receive credit towards its 2023 fundraising goal.

Government Affairs never really slows down, but I hope you all get a little downtime as we get ready to ramp up in a presidential election year!

All my best this holiday season. It’s my honor to be your chair.
