Chair’s Letter

GAD Nation,

I’d be remiss to start this month’s message with anything but well wishes and prayers for our colleagues, friends, and family impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. It should come as no surprise to hear how our REALTOR® family and GAD Nation are stepping up to help with disaster relief, emergency aid, and much more. We will keep everyone in our thoughts moving forward through what will be a lengthy road to recovery. Be sure to reach out to your colleagues in these areas, even if it’s simply a note of encouragement. It can go a long way.

As this newsletter hits your inbox, we are moving into the final weeks ahead of the presidential election. If you are attending NXT in Boston, we may still not know the results as we fly in. What we do know, however, is our work continues. We must keep showcasing the value and significance of advocacy and government relations to our members. We must show up and speak up and find ways to utilize our members to help our messaging resonate.

So, with that in mind, what are you working on? What has you stuck? Have you reached out to a fellow GAD recently? I encourage you to continue cultivating those relationships. And while you’re at it, find a few moments to take care of you, too.

See you in Boston!

What You Need to Know

New FPC Nomination System is Live

The new Federal Political Coordinator (FPC) nomination system is live and accessible to AEs and GADs. This new platform will streamline the process of nominating FPCs each cycle and create easy access for advocacy staff to know who FPCs are. Two recorded trainings are available (9/25, 10/9) and more will be offered to ensure all staff have an opportunity to ask questions or update any information that may be outdated.

If you would like a walk-through on submitting your FPC nominations for the 119th Congress during NXT, you may schedule an appointment with the Aristotle team for the following time slots:

  • Thursday, November 7, 9am – 11am EST
  • Thursday, November 7, 2:30pm – 4pm EST
  • Friday, November 8, 1:30pm – 4pm EST

The Aristotle team will also be offering bi-weekly webinar after NXT to ensure associations have the support they need to submit their nominations.  You can register below:

Questions? Contact Victoria Givens.

Written Buyer Agreements Research Available

New resources are available on the REALTOR® Party Website on written buyer agreement legislation (aka buyer-broker legislation) across the country. These resources provide an analysis of all current legislation and links to the bills for each state.

Compliance Corner

Social Media and RPAC: What can you post?

When posting on a public site, it is essential to exercise caution due to regulations regarding RPAC solicitations. Remember, RPAC solicitations can only be made to members of the solicitable class. Acceptable content includes a calendar of events, factual information, and official policy positions. Following an RPAC event, you may share details about fundraising activities, such as photos, the total amount raised, and the number of Major Investors and President Circle members. It is crucial to focus solely on factual information and refrain from using language that encourages participation, as this could be considered a solicitation.

Conversely, within a secure, member-only area, you are permitted to provide more comprehensive information regarding RPAC. This can include specifics about fundraising events, ticket pricing, recognition and benefits, reasons for member investment, and instructions on how to invest. Additionally, please ensure that a disclaimer is included on the website.

Questions? Contact Darby Thorne, Director of Political Compliance.
