Like so many U.S. urban centers, Charlotte, N.C., is facing an affordable housing crisis. To help housing stakeholders understand the full scope of the complex issue as it affects the whole region, the Charlotte Regional REALTOR® Association used a Housing Opportunity Grant to commission a State of Housing study that analyzed factors like jobs, housing supply, and affordability.
Hilton Head Area and Beaufort Jasper County REALTORS® Lead Winning School Funding Campaign
In Beaufort County, S.C., major construction, renovations, and updates were urgently needed throughout the school district, which had not had a successful bond referendum – its only source of such funding – in more than a decade. When a promising referendum made it to the ballot this year, the area’s REALTORS® stepped up to make sure it would pass.
Schuylkill REALTORS® Rehab Park, Launch REALTORS® Political Career
The REALTORS® of the Schuylkill County Board used a Placemaking Grant to bring a local playground swinging back to life. The REALTOR® who spearheaded the project, having learned the workings of the Borough Council in the proposal process, was appointed to replace an outgoing Council member, and is now serving a second term as an indispensable public servant – and the only woman on the local governing body.

With a Fair Housing Grant, the Greater Syracuse Association of REALTORS® Strengthens its Efforts to Banish Racial Bias
In light of all that’s been learned about racial bias in the past year, the Greater Syracuse Association has been working hard to raise awareness of how the issue is at play in the real estate industry. Using a Fair Housing Grant from the REALTOR® Party, it presented Bill Dedman, the lead investigator on the Newsday “Testing the Divide” exposé, as a guest speaker at a seminar for members.

Kentucky REALTORS® Host Weeklong Virtual Treasure Hunt to Spur RPAC Investment
In a case of Necessity being the mother of Invention, the Kentucky REALTORS®’ RPAC and YPN Committees turned to a high-tech gadget to develop an engaging RPAC event: using a 3-D imaging camera, they hosted a five-day virtual treasure hunt that attracted new investment and is paving the way for future fully inclusive and accessible events.
Central Missouri Board of REALTORS® Uses Transforming Neighborhoods Technical Assessment to Address Vacant and Abandoned Properties
In the town of Marshall, Missouri (pop. 13,000,) about 20% of the residential properties were vacant, along with more than a dozen commercial properties, including a hospital and a grocery store. The Central Missouri Board of REALTORS® got to work with a REALTOR® Party-funded technical assessment, whose recommendations are driving real change focused on strategic code enforcement, data-driven problem solving, and property owner education.
Delayed by Natural Disaster, Rogue Valley Association of REALTORS® Launches Wildfire Safety Campaign with Emphasis on Prevention
In a maddening twist of fate, when the pandemic forced the Rogue Valley Association of REALTORS® to postpone a wildfire safety campaign, a wildfire tore through its operating region in southwest Oregon, destroying 2,500 residential structures. Not only did the campaign get off the ground the following year, it was able to stop proposed wildfire mitigation regulation at point of sale.
