Washington REALTORS® Use Issues Mobilization Grants to Support Bumper-Crop of Affordable Housing Legislation

With help from the REALTOR® Party, Washington REALTORS® mounted a public-facing "Welcome Home" campaign to focus the state’s 2023 Legislative Session on housing inventory and homeownership. The slate of bills they successfully promoted will lower barriers to creating new housing, especially in the affordable and Missing Middle range. In a separate campaign, they fought back legislation to increase real estate excise taxes.

Maine Association of REALTORS® Defends the Inter-tidal Land of Coastal Property Owners from Proposed Takings Bill

For the past few centuries, the land along Maine’s coast that is twice-daily exposed by low tide has belonged to the “upland property owner.” This spring, the state REALTOR® association defeated a bill attempting to turn that ‘wet-sand’ strip over to the state, which could have made it available for commercial use.

Oregon REALTORS® Conduct ‘People for an Affordable Oregon’ Campaign in Support of Key Housing Legislation

With insights gained from REALTOR® Party polling, Oregon REALTORS® launched an Issues Mobilization campaign to persuade legislators to approve critical legislation addressing the state’s ongoing housing and homelessness crises. The resulting passage of SB 1537 brings important land use and permitting reforms to the housing production process.

St. Charles REALTORS® Leverage Multiple REALTOR® Party Tools to Protect Open House Signs

In St. Charles County, Missouri, a proliferation of advertising signs brought on a restrictive reactionary ordinance by the Board of Aldermen, threatening to throw the baby out with the bath water. Using the Land Use Initiative program and a Call for Action, the local REALTORS® have been able to show the legislators how outlawing open house signs would disarm a healthy real estate market.
