What You Need to Know
NAR Advocacy Scores Big in 2024 Election
441 RPAC-supported federal candidates advanced from their primaries to the general election. We won a total of 431 of those races – bringing our success-rate for this year’s election to 98%.
We redoubled our efforts to elect federal champions, engaging in 58 Opportunity Races throughout this primary season with a 93% success-rate. And we took 94 Opportunity Races live before Election Day, with nearly 50/50 support for Democrats and Republicans.
On the state and local level, our State and Local Independent Expenditures Program supported more than 400 REALTOR® Party champions this year, and as of last month, every state and D.C. has now participated in the program over its lifetime.
NAR Chief Advocacy Officer Shannon McGahn Outlines 2025 Priorities
At NAR’s NXT Conference, the Advocacy Scoop event dug into the association’s top advocacy priorities heading into 2025.
“Yes, we have a new government in town, but we have relationships on both sides of the aisle,” McGahn said. “We were ready regardless of who won.”
NAR continues its advocacy for measures to incentivize the sale of existing homes and the development of badly needed new housing stock. The association is also gearing up for tax reform, because provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act are set to expire at the end of 2025.
NAR President Joins Panel Discussion Focused on Supply Challenges
NAR President Kevin Sears joined national housing leaders for a panel reception hosted by the National League of Cities and American Planning Association focused on the Housing Supply Accelerator Playbook, a guide that contains more than 40 strategies for state and local governments to deploy in the fight for housing affordability.
NAR Applauds Introduction of the ROAD to Housing Act
This month, Congress introduced the Renewing Opportunity in the American Dream (ROAD) to Housing Act.
NAR President Kevin Sears issued a statement in support of the new piece of legislation stating that it can “serve as a marker for discussions on how Congress can help bring families closer to achieving homeownership and building intergenerational wealth.”
