I know I speak for so many of my colleagues when I say that watching the scene unfold at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, January 6, left me disheartened, discouraged, and in disbelief.
NAR stands with our nation’s centuries-old observance of peaceful protests and the peaceful transfer of power. What happened last week in Washington, D.C. was an assault on both. Members of Congress, Capitol Police Officers, and countless workers at the U.S. Capitol came under attack. These are scenes that should not stand in the United States of America and are no part of our fabric as a free, compassionate, and tolerant people.
As America’s largest trade association, NAR joined a nationwide chorus of businesses, organizations, and fellow trade groups in expressing our full support of the U.S. Capitol Police and National Guard as they worked to restore sanity and stability in the wake of Wednesday’s events.
Now is a time for coming together, for using the heartbreaking circumstances we have lived through as an opportunity to move forward more tightly bonded by our shared conviction about the enduring strength of the American democracy.
As we look ahead, I pledge to you that NAR is committed to doing everything we can to help heal and stabilize this nation during one of the most troubling and trying periods in our lifetime. Thank you for taking the time to read this note, and I urge you to do everything you can in your homes, businesses, and in your lives to ensure our nation can emerge from this tragedy more united and unyielding than we’ve been before.

atWell Said, Charlie! Thank You for leading the charge for the NAR this year!
Just a note, As you didn’t sign off on your comments, I couldn’t find your name or any of the current Officers names on this site.
I saw that Bill Malkasian was still listed as the CAE staff member, so I called him. Bill started with the WRA the same time I became a Realtor member, 1973.
It’s hard to believe that on February 28th, the day my Broker’s License came in the mail, I’ll be celebrating 48 years as a Realtor!
Stay Well Charlie.

atThank you very much for this note! It is really unsettling how many people were in support of this event & tragedy. I am proud to be a part of an oganization that will not tolerate the “hate” speech that is put out there. Thank you!

atI agree that we have to be a united country and preserve our democracy. We have seen very dark days in the past. Now with a new administration, duly and fairly elected, we need to look at the future of our great country. We have to set aside our differences and work together for positive mutual ends. This is the only way we can keep this country and our democracy strong and vibrant!!
