The FPC Advocacy Academy transforms newly appointed Federal Political Coordinators (FPCs) into effective political advocates for the REALTOR® industry. Through targeted training, the program strengthens FPCs’ ability to engage Congress confidently and strategically.
In 2017, 25 FPCs participated in the pilot program making the leap from average citizen activists to top-flight grassroots power brokers. Following positive feedback from stakeholders, NAR expanded the FPC Advocacy Academy in 2019 to include all newly onboarded FPCs—approximately 125 participants every two years. In 2026, NAR will further enhance the program with the launch of Lobbyist Office Hours and quarterly FPC Mentorship Zoom sessions, optional opportunities for peer feedback and additional support.
Through a mix of webinars and in-person training, participants significantly increase their comfort meeting with members of Congress. Congressional staff have consistently indicated that FPCs who completed the Advocacy Academy conducted meetings that were more effective and earned greater trust than those of their peers.
