The FPC Advocacy Academy turns REALTORS® freshly appointed as Federal Political Coordinators (FPC) into savvy political advocates for the REALTOR® industry. The program, conducted in partnership with the Congressional Management Foundation, trains participants to master the methods behind creating and fostering long-term relationships with elected officials.

Over the course of the program’s seven sessions (a mix of webinars and in-person training), participants will have significantly improved their comfortability in meeting with members of Congress. In general, Congressional staff indicated that the FPCs who went through the Advocacy Academy had meetings that were more effective and trusted than their peers.

In 2017, 25 FPCs participated in the pilot program making the leap from average citizen activists to top-flight grassroots power brokers. Starting in 2019, following the reception of positive feedback from our stakeholders, NAR has decided to expand the FPC Advocacy Academy to include all new onboarding FPCs — approximately 125 every two years.
