Dates to Remember

Chair’s Letter

GAD Nation,

I’m excited to share some updates and upcoming opportunities with you all!

First, I’m pleased to announce the newly appointed members of the GAD Advisory Group. This group of talented GADs plays an important role in planning the agenda for the GAD Institute, ensuring the program remains relevant, engaging, and responsive to the needs of our community. I want to extend my sincere thanks to those who have stepped up to serve.

In addition, we’ve just wrapped up the new GAD Orientation in Washington, D.C. This year’s class brought a strong group of new GADs into the fold, and I was impressed by their energy and passion.

Lastly, I’m looking forward to seeing many of you in Boston for NAR NXT this November. This event always provides a great opportunity for GADs to connect, share best practices, and learn from one another. It’s also a chance to re-energize and get inspired as we head into the new year. I hope to see many of you there as the year begins to wrap up.

Let’s keep this year’s momentum going!

What You Need to Know

Hall of Fame Nominations

New this year, RPAC Hall of Fame nominations can be submitted via online nomination form. As a reminder, RPAC, President’s Circle, and Pro-Property Platform investments count towards a member’s lifetime giving history.

Before submitting a Hall of Fame nomination, NAR MUST confirm the member’s lifetime giving history.

  • Due to the large volume at the beginning of January, the deadline to request lifetime giving histories is January 20, 2025. Nomination forms with unconfirmed giving histories will not be accepted.
  • Lifetime giving histories are pulled from Aristotle under “Individual Summary Reports.” The older recognition years will need reconciliation depending on data received during your state’s data conversion and initial NAR data conversion long ago (usually before 2010).
  • If lifetime giving before 2010 in Aristotle does not match your state accounting records, those with data entry permissions on your team can add needed receipts. When confirming the giving history with NAR, let us know if the member’s early giving was reconciled based on the state record.

The deadline to submit RPAC Hall of Fame nominations is January 31, 2025.

For lifetime giving history requests and questions – contact Jenn Nguyen.

The Pro-Property Platform, RPAC’s new low-dollar, direct-to-candidate giving program, launched last month. Through the Platform, REALTORS®, affiliates, and the public can make voluntary contributions to candidates and officeholders who champion property rights.

To learn more about the program, check out the Pro-Property Platform Toolkit.

GAD Meetings – November 8 & 9

All state and local advocacy staff are invited to attend the GAD meetings at NXT (listed below). If you have any questions contact Jami Sims.

Compliance Corner

What’s a Solicitation to RPAC?

RPAC solicitations can only be made to the solicitable class. What’s a solicitation?

A solicitation is any communication that encourages support of RPAC or facilitates the making of a contribution to RPAC. For example, if you make a post saying, “Please donate to RPAC,” that is a solicitation. What about if you post a donate link for RPAC, but do not include words of encouragement? That’s still a solicitation because it “facilitates the making of a contribution.”

You can communicate about RPAC without making a solicitation. The key is to stick to facts. For example, you can post information about the number of contributors, the amount raised, and the candidates RPAC supported. However, make sure to not include additional language which could turn it into a solicitation.

Remember, RPAC solicitations can only be made to the solicitable class. It’s easy for a communication to be a solicitation, even if you do not intend to, so always double check.

Questions? Contact Darby Thorne, Director of Political Compliance.
