What You Need to Know

NAR Spotlights Housing Solutions at Political Conventions

NAR CEO Nykia Wright speaks at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August.

Partnering with POLITICO, NAR brought conversations on top housing issues to both political conventions this summer.

At the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, NAR’s events featured discussions among elected officials and industry leaders on how best to address the country’s housing challenges.

NAR CEO Nykia Wright and Chief Advocacy Officer Shannon McGahn also led executive discussions on the bipartisan solutions REALTORS® are advancing to make housing more accessible and affordable.

2024 Political Rallying Cry: “It’s the Housing, Stupid!”

“It’s the economy, stupid!” became a rallying cry in the 1992 presidential election, acknowledging the frustration driving voters’ decisions at the ballot box. And in 2024, the saying rings just as true. But now the frustration centers on a particular economic segment: the housing market.

As more families wait for their shot at the American Dream, there’s no question of the importance this issue holds for this year’s elections. Read more about how NAR is putting housing issues front and center to elect REALTOR® Party champions at all levels of government and achieve legislative victories to bring homeownership back into reach for millions of Americans.

The Pro-Property Platform Launches

The Pro-Property Platform, RPAC’s new low-dollar, direct-to-candidate giving program, launched last month. Through the Platform, REALTORS®, affiliates, and the public can make voluntary contributions to candidates and officeholders who champion property rights.

By quantifying the amount of pro-property rights dollars contributed, we can send a powerful message to candidates that REALTORS® and consumers are standing with them because of their commitment to advancing the American Dream of property ownership.
