GAD Nation–

Daylight savings is here! The sun is out longer, but the work is even longer. As many of you, we are busier than ever in Charleston. Policy does not stop because the weather is nicer.

Take the opportunity to restore and be fresh. This work can take a great deal of time and energy, but we cannot serve the members if we burn out. Attrition in the GAD ranks is high, and we must do more to take care of ourselves, so that we can take care of the policy at home.

As we continue to plan for our Detroit Institute, we want to take an approach to make us the best professionals we can be. Detroit has a story to tell and there are many lessons to learn from her. The Michigan delegation has been busy making the requests and helping us pull speakers from Michigan to best tell that story. We will cover everything from the Detroit economic recovery, an auto industry changing shape, to an exceptional Mayor looking to welcome the best group of advocacy professionals in the country to their city!

The Advisory Group has begun to dial in on the sessions and topics. We want to provide more opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, so we are looking at additional breakout sessions with topics for smaller group discussions. Feeling cute, maybe a little speed dating by issue, IDK? We want to bring in outside voices as well to help us view similar issues through a different lens. The 2023 model will have more horsepower, a tweaked design, and be more responsive to an ever-changing landscape.

GAD Institute is the time for us to come together and learn from each other. Grow and get better. With spring here in Charleston and around the corner for many of you, we look forward to putting together a great edition for you! We will continue to search for quality content, so that our community is as healthy as ever!

Take care,

Josh
