Twice a year, NAR holds a two-day orientation at our DC office for new AEs and GADs. This training highlights opportunities for state and local REALTOR® associations to engage in community and consumer outreach, legislative and political advocacy, RPAC, campaign services, and research. It also provides valuable information on creating successful REALTOR® Party advocacy and outreach efforts for your association. Registration is now open and limited to 35 attendees on a first come, first served basis. Questions? Contact Jim MacGregor.

GAD Advisory Group Application
Are you interested in serving on the GAD Advisory Group?  This is your opportunity to make your voice heard in the professional and personal development of GADs. If you liked the programing at the GAD Institute in Philly, felt topics were missing, have ideas on new formats, or just plain love planning a party – we want you!  The institute is only as successful as the dedication and desires of the advisory board.  The REALTOR organization’s strength comes from the commitment of our volunteers and the AG is no exception. Apply for the GAD AG!  Deadline is August 31.  If you have any questions about the GAD AG contact the GAD AG Chair Josh Dix.

Community Outreach

Placemaking Projects are Winning Propositions for Your Association!
Engage in local projects that transform unused or underused sites into welcoming destinations accessible to everyone.  Partner with local government and nonprofits to create a new public space such as a downtown gathering spot, park, playground, dog park, community garden, trailhead or storybook trail.  Utilize a Placemaking Grant to offset construction costs. For inspiration download the Placemaking Grant Guide and/or visit the Spaces to Places blog. To learn more, contact Catherine Mesick.

Reminder: Community Outreach Grant Application Deadline Around the Corner
Make plans to apply for Smart Growth, Housing Opportunity, Fair Housing,  Placemaking and Rural Outreach grant to position your association and REALTORS® as leaders in improving their communities through education and advocacy by October 15th! Need ideas on how a grant can help fund your advocacy effort? Search success stories or sign-up for a 30-minute one-on-one meeting with staff experts via Zoom to brainstorm ways your association can leverage a Community Outreach Grant. Questions? Contact Christine Windle.

Build Smarter and Stronger Communities
Smart growth focuses on improving communities, making them more livable, sustainable, healthy, and prosperous. State and local associations can apply for a Smart Growth Grant to support advocacy for better land use, underwrite a transportation study, promote downtown revitalization or historic preservation, enhance walkability, and so much more. Access Ideas for Using a Smart Growth grant or search “Smart Growth” within REALTOR Party Success Stories for ideas and inspiration. To learn more, contact Hugh Morris

REALTOR® Party Success Stories – August 2022 Each month, stories highlighting state and local associations who leveraged a REALTOR Party grant or resource that led to an advocacy “win” are highlighted and cataloged in the REALTOR Party Success Stories. A person smiling for the camera Description automatically generated with low confidence GAD Nation!  Thank you for a great experience in Philadelphia!  It was good to catch up with so many of you during our Institute!  I enjoyed hearing about what crazy challenges we all face back home.

A special thanks to the Philly and Pennsylvania team for playing host.  Yall did an incredible job!  Brad, Mac, and the AG, well done on the planning and pivoting to make this Institute a success.  And last, congratulations to the new GAD Advisory Group Vice Chair, Liz Peetz (CO) – I’m really looking forward to working with you this year!

We are taking in the feedback from this year’s Institute and are beginning the conversations for Detroit.  Please reach out to Mac, Liz, or myself if you have thoughts and suggestions on how to make next year’s Institute better.  The GAD Institute is important to our professional development and there is no better opportunity to learn from one another and help each other.  We want to ensure that each of you are taking at least one great nugget away from these meetings.

We are still taking applications for those who want to be a part of the 2022-2023 AG and help plan next year’s Institute in Detroit.  The application deadline is August 31st and we will make the announcement by September 15th.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.  Being a part of the AG has been a great value to me and I am sure it will be for you too!
