GADs Give Back
GADs Give Back is an initiative that began in 2018 to give back to the host community for the GAD Institute; this year, we’ve chosen the Coalition on Temporary Shelter (COTS). Consider donating today!
COTS provides housing and support to nearly 1,000 people daily. Programs include family-only emergency shelter for families; supportive housing with assistance for addiction, disability, or illness; affordable housing; and children’s services such as learning labs to support academic success, drop-in childcare to help working parents, and child development services for families experiencing homelessness. To learn more about COTS, visit cotsdetroit.org.

New Community Outreach Video Highlights Miami REALTORS® Housing Affordability Initiative
With the help of a Community Outreach Grant, the Miami REALTORS® built a container home protype made from two repurposed cargo shipping containers to study and advocate for regulatory changes to reduce barriers to housing affordability. Learn how they cut red tape by permitting the use of nonconforming lots, creating an expedited review process, enabling container homes for Accessory Dwelling Units, and reducing overall housing costs. GAD Chair

GAD Nation-
GAD Institute is next week, and we cannot wait for Detroit! We have a tremendous 3 days of programming planned. It is our hope to provide the tools necessary for all of us to be successful GADs.
None of this would be possible without the dedicated team of GADs on the Advisory Group. The AG has put together a great institute! Thank you for the support and energy as we planned the Detroit edition.
Brad Ward deserves a special shoutout. Brad has not only served as immediate past chair of the GAD AG but is also a host for this year’s installation. At every step, Brad and Team Michigan have risen to the occasion. We are excited for what they have planned for the GADs!
The NAR Advocacy Team was instrumental to accomplishing these goals. The staff is always accessible and worked to ensure the AG had the resources to produce a great institute. Thank you for the time, emails, calls, and the extra support that was needed in 2023.
It has been an honor to serve with Brandon Alderete! Brandon took on the role of vice chair in mid-stream and did not miss anything. Brandon has been a key voice for GADs for years and will continue to serve our community. The GADs are going to have strong leadership moving forward with Brandon at the helm.
Before signing off, please take a moment and make your pledge to GADs Give Back. This year, we are supporting the Coalition on Temporary Shelter, or COTS, in Detroit. COTS works to support those in need of affordable housing, emergency shelter, and more. You and your association can make your gift here.
It has been a pleasure to serve as the chair in 2023. Thank you to all who have lent an ear, given advice, and provided support throughout the year. Advocacy is more than a week in Detroit or a Day at the Dome. Advocacy does not stop, and it takes a team to defend property rights. Thank you to all GADs who spend their nights at council meetings or dealing with legislators after hours. This work cannot be accomplished without you!
We look forward to hosting the GADs next week in Detroit and celebrate everything that can be accomplished by a motivated group.
See you in Detroit!
Josh
