Hopkinsville, KY Goes to the Dogs with the Help of a Placemaking Grant
On June 2, 2016, the Hopkinsville Dog Park was opened by an official ribbon cutting ceremony, with plenty of dogs in attendance, ready to romp. It was all the idea of the 56-member Hopkinsville Christian & Todd County Association of REALTORSĀ® and a Placemaking Micro-Grant from the REALTORĀ® Party helped make it a reality.

The Consumer Advocacy Database is a collection of names and email addresses of consumers who have demonstrated support (signed a petition, sent a letter, or signed up to receive updates on homeownership-related public policy issues at the state, local and national levels) in NAR-sponsored or supported issue advocacy or consumer outreach campaigns with state and local REALTORĀ® Associations.

The village of Seville, Ohio had been hard hit by the recent recession, and before that, by the imposition of a set of extremely limiting zoning codes that left its once-charming main street commercial district 33 percent unoccupied. It was anchored at each end by shuttered gas stations, constituting unsightly brownfields. A recently closed elementary school loomed vacant nearby, not just an empty property, but representing the absence of significant tax revenue from the village coffers. West Georgia Board of REALTORSĀ® Leads Aspiring Buyers on the Path to Homeownership with Engaging Info-Packed Course
With support from a Housing Opportunity Grant, the West Georgia Board of REALTORSĀ® partnered with a local HUD-certified housing counseling agency to offer a āPathways to Homeownershipā course for first-time buyers. Ā Addressing essential aspects of the home-buying process ā including obstacles to homeownership ā the program was so well received that the REALTORSĀ® are making it an annual event.
