With support from a Housing Opportunity Grant, the West Georgia Board of REALTORS® partnered with a local HUD-certified housing counseling agency to offer a ‘Pathways to Homeownership’ course for first-time buyers. Addressing essential aspects of the home-buying process – including obstacles to homeownership – the program was so well received that the REALTORS® are making it an annual event.
Ohio REALTORS® Leverage Issues Mobilization Grant to Preempt Threat of Rent Control
When rent control was put on the ballot in Columbus, Ohio, the state REALTOR® association stepped in to tackle the issue before it became a home-rule free-for-all among local jurisdictions. They used an Issues Mobilization Grant to have an expert draft the legislation, and spared the entire state from a policy that actually decreases much-needed housing.

Royal Palm Coast REALTOR® Association Helps Members Learn to Serve Clients with Disabilities
A Fair Housing Grant from the REALTOR® Party enabled Florida’s Royal Palm Coast REALTOR® Association to conduct a symposium on serving clients with special needs. The speakers – a REALTOR® focused on helping clients with disabilities and a builder specializing in barrier-free housing – showed a full house what it means to offer proper standards of care to those whose abilities differ from their own.

Washington REALTORS® Campaigns to Defeat Transfer Tax Increase
When multiple bills threatened an increased transfer tax on any real estate sale over $3M that encompassed a commercial development, Washington REALTORS® anticipated the derailment of desperately needed transactions throughout the state. An Issues Mobilization Grant from the REALTOR® Party helped them voice a strong argument against the problematic legislation.

Indianapolis REALTORS® Score Win-Win With Graffiti Abatement Program
The Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of REALTORS® had long wanted to help lessen crime in their area. With a Game Changer Grant they found their opportunity by taking a lead in the city's new Graffiti Abatement Program. The 6,850-member board partnered with several government and non-profit groups to create a mobile Graffiti Abatement Unit to remove graffiti from houses and businesses. Most exciting of all is that the unit is staffed by a program that helps former inmates re-enter the workforce with dignity, skills and a strong worth ethic.
Hilton Head Area and Beaufort Jasper County REALTORS® Lead Winning School Funding Campaign
In Beaufort County, S.C., major construction, renovations, and updates were urgently needed throughout the school district, which had not had a successful bond referendum – its only source of such funding – in more than a decade. When a promising referendum made it to the ballot this year, the area’s REALTORS® stepped up to make sure it would pass.

When the public bus system of Hamilton County, Ohio needed an overhaul, ‘Reinventing METRO’ promised improved service and financial sustainability. To get it funded with an increase in the county sales tax, the local REALTOR® board joined a broad-based coalition in a leadership capacity, with support from the Ohio Association and the REALTOR® Party.
